Waterjet systems for PolyJet post-processing.

In the PolyJet environment, compact waterjet units are offered for manually removing soluble or gel-like support material. These units are cleaning and post-processing systems — not waterjet cutting systems.

Support material is removed from the printed part

After PolyJet printing, support structures can remain on exterior surfaces and in accessible geometries. The water jet is used to selectively release or flush out this material without cutting the actual part.

Enclosed cabinet and separate pump unit

Manufacturer literature describes desktop and object-scale waterjet units as compact cleaning systems with an enclosed chamber and a separate high-pressure pump unit. The nozzle is guided manually; in the systems described, pump operation is controlled by a foot switch.

Part geometry and material condition determine post-processing

Processing must reliably reach the support material while accounting for sensitive part features. For series parts or hard-to-reach geometries, automated wash-out processes can be an alternative to manual waterjet processing.

A distinct sub-field of waterjet technology

This application shows that the term "waterjet system" is not used in the market exclusively for cutting systems. What matters for technical classification is always the specific process, not the label "waterjet" alone.
